Challenge #71 is:

History

History is all around us. Every person, every thing has a history. John and Rodney are no different. Their respective childhoods and everything up to the moment they met has made them who they were at that time. Then began their personal history, the (hi)story of their growing relationship.

What do they see when they look back at the years they've shared together? What is it that makes them see it in a new light suddenly or maybe not so suddenly? Or maybe you want to write amnesia fic about what happens when you take that history away.

There's of course the history of Atlantis and the Pegasus Galaxy and its many planets. Or you could write about an AU in a historical setting.

Challenge closes May 17th 2010. Have fun!

You can still take a look at our latest McSheplings post and comment!

Challenge #47 is:

Home Improvement

More power! For those not familiar with the TV show, you can take a look at the Home Improvement wikipedia page. You can incorporate actual themes/canon of the show (how about Tool Time proudly presented by Pegasus' Tools, starring John Sheppard and sidekick Rodney McKay, except that they're also driving each other nuts at home and John's the one wearing the flanel shirts) or write about general home improvement. It could be about the irresistible force of hardware stores, John and Rodney back on Earth, renovating their house or maybe it's things they do to make Atlantis more of a home. Or it could be about improving the Sheppard-McKay household, the little domestic things they do for love.

Challenge closes June 15th 2009. Have fun!

Challenge #46 is:

Anticipation

All of us know the feeling of counting down the days, minutes, seconds, possibly months or years to that one moment that promises to bring us what we've been waiting for so (im)patiently. Maybe John and Rodney haven't seen each other for a couple of days and (can't) wait for their reunion. Maybe one of them has finally asked the other one out and their first date is imminent. Or others awaiting their coming out. They could be waiting for birthday presents, well-deserved vacation or maybe it's just a stray thought or two during the day of "Can't wait to see him again tonight."

Challenge closes June 1st 2009. Have fun!

It's Monday and time for the new challenge to kick things off here at Dreamwidth.

Challenge #45 is:

Sacrifice

What comes to mind is John Sheppard, taking the bomb that Rodney built to fly into a Hive (and his own death). Because it's what he does. Well, not just John. There's Rodney stepping into a dark energy cloud. Our heroes are quite good with the big sacrifices they're willing to make, but there are small ones of course. On average how often does Rodney complain about Earth food he cannot get? And John about not being able to drive? And what about those small sacrifices you make in a relationship, like John giving up orange juice because he wants to be able and ready to kiss Rodney at any time? Or maybe someome else makes sacrifices to allow them to be together and of course there are the alien rituals where they have to sacrifice themselves (or possibly their gay virginity if such a thing exists ;)

Challenge closes May 18th 2009. Have fun!

[livejournal.com profile] mcsheplets is a little John/Rodney writing community on Livejournal that was created in August 2007.

It's a place for John/Rodney ficlets (thus the name McSheplets), a bi-weekly challenge and anything related to writing John/Rodney. It also allows Joe/David RPS and Hewligan, though the bulk of the fic is John/Rodney.

[community profile] mcsheplets on Dreamwidth will work the same way as its LJ counterpart.

Crossposting to McSheplets on Livejournal and Dreamwidth is allowed (please use the same subject line).

I will generate link lists every now and then with all links to entries in either community so that people can check out the ficlets that they might have missed.

We'll officially open on Dreamwidth with challenge #45 (current frontrunner is "Sacrifice") tomorrow.

I hope to have up the rules and some more administrative stuff by then.

If you have questions or thoughts, let me know in the comments :)
